I get a lot of questions about my trashion fragrances, so I thought I’d give you all the brief lowdown: my trashion scents are fragrances composed of synthetics that have crept into my stores through error or bulk sale over the years.
What are synthetics? In the context of perfumery, they are inorganic compounds created to (usually) imitate scents found in nature. Whether synthetics are good or bad depend on who you’re asking. I personally am disinclined towards them1, but at the same time, I’m loathe to just toss them in the groundwater. So instead, I am using them to slowly accumulate proceeds to donate to Cropwatch (I’m at around $1.10 so far. At the end of the year, if all else fails, I’ll just send them a donation of $10-20).
As explained in my trashion listings, these scents are an honest attempt to use up synthetics that have crept their way into my stores, and one part protest, in response to IFRA’s (International Fragrance Association) move towards banning nearly all natural materials used in perfumes.
You can read more abouto this ban at Cropwatch.
